We received this message and photo from Barbara McNarry (sister of football legend George Best) and with her kind permission, reproduce her letter below.
Hi there,
My name is Barbara McNarry a sister of the late George Best. I visit South Africa a lot and I though you would like to have a copy of this photograph which I took during my last trip.
The bench is situated at Spionkop Lodge overlooking Spion Kop itself which was the scene of the Anglo-Boer war.
The Liverpool Supporters Club of South Africa commissioned the bench to honour the memory of the 96 Liverpool supporters who died at Hillsborough on 15th April 1989 and they visit Spion Kop each year to hold a memorial service.
The bench sought to signify that as a result of the Taylor Enquiry, all stadium should be all-seated. The main supports are two eternal flames and the back rest is inscribed with the words "In Memoriam Hillsborough 15th April 1989" and is guarded on either side by a Liver Bird. The seat is constructed from 96 separate slats, one in memory of each person who died.
I just thought that it would be nice to have copy of this and I had to swallow my pride and visit a Liverpool Supporters Club website. I am sure George will forgive me!!!
Believe it or not my eldest son has been an ardent fan of Liverpool as is my 8 year old grand daughter, who has already been to Anfield on a number of occasions. She recently went to a birthday party and refused to eat or even take home a piece of cake as it was a Liverpool one. Young people these days !!!

Who stole our club banner?
Who stole our club banner? The club banner was displayed on the running track of the Olympic Stadium in Athens last May, at the end of the match a steward threw the banner over the moat to someone who was not one of us! The dasterardly felon then legged it into that grim Athenian night, while we wiled away the hours in an Athens bus station awaiting our return coach to catch the ferry back to Zante. Bring back our banner or failing that, one of equal quality and sentiment to us!
Even the photographers were checking out our banner!
As we have had no leads regarding the dasterdly theft of our much loved banner we are leaving this aticle in place as a memorium to this unique piece of tat!
Soaking up the atmosphere in Syntagma square Athens last May in front of big Marty's banner (much better than our one)!
Ooh, lovely legs competition cancelled!Damn, it looks like we've missed the boat (again)! Zante 2007.

Kay saluting a former Liverpool player while visiting OT for 2006 FA Cup semi-final.
The best trip of 2005/06 season was the FA Cup semi-final at OT, 'F**k off Chelsea FC'. We'll be adding the stories of last season's trips to the site shortly.
We've all watched FA Cup finals over the years and and no matter what two teams are involved, have had ones that we remember, but this years final has to go down as something special. For neutrals it must have been a gem. For West Ham supporters a nightmare, but for Liverpool Supporters everwhere a touch of 'here we go again'
With a packed bar in Biddy's and after free drinks and t-shirt selling. Everone settled down to see what for most was another cup in the bag for Liverpool. How wrong we were. At two nil down and all looking doomed. It was Fra and his magic hat that turned things around as far as we are concerned. Because after it was produced we had one disallowed that was dubusiouly off side and then Cisse's goal.
Fra passing round the 'Magic Hat' as Cisse brings us back into the game.
After Gerrard scored and brought us level it looked like we were going to win. Then that cross that was blown into the net by those bubble-blowing Hammers fans. Seemed like it was not to be our day. But 'the man' who never knows when he's beat brought us right back into it with a 'Stevie Wonder-goal' (no not the blind piano playing soulman) but Captain Fantastic Stevie G.
Vernon salutes Stevie G or saviour till the end.
Extra time was as exciting as the 90 minutes before, and but for the world class save right at the end by Pepe it still could have been the underdogs day. He then went on to perform even more heroics in the penalty shoot out to hand Liverpool our 7th FA Cup trophy.
Biddy's erupts as Pepe saves to put all Liverpool fans in '7th Heaven'
And the festivites begin. The FA replica is passed around the bar and more than a few pints were drunk.
Deb's, Grainne and Martin with Pat's replica cup. I think he watched too many Blue Peter shows growing up. Pass the sticky back tape please.
Some more of our hands, sorry Fans celebrate the win.
If you are not familiar with us or "The Reds" and your first contact with us is online. We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your questions are, we will be more than happy to help. Contact us at info@wblsc.co.uk .
In brief, you should know the following about us: our club was established in 1993 and had been responsible for providing our members with trips to see "The Mighty Reds" play at their home, Anfield ever since. We have around thirty full membership holders and lots of associate members mostly family and friends. We hold our meetings in a West Belfast pub called "Biddy Duffy's". There we meet to watch football, discuss football, eat football, sleep football and drink Carlsberg!
